Judy Chace Doyle, Watercolors & Pastels
|
Artist Statement“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”-Pablo Picasso “Watercolor and pastels are my media of choice. Favorite subjects are impressionistic landscapes and vignettes of human activity, my gardens, the lakes and country roads of northeastern Connecticut, the atmosphere of Cape Cod, buildings, doorways, the shapes and shadings of bowls, crocks and household utensils…. Inspiration is everywhere!” BiographyJudy, now a resident of Danielson, Connecticut, grew up in North Attleboro,
Massachusetts. Around the age of 10 she began after-school classes in
oil painting with one, then another, of her parents’ artist friends.
In high school, Judy traveled by bus to Providence for Saturday morning
classes in figure drawing at Rhode Island School of Design. As an adult
she took evening classes with Foster Caddell in his Voluntown studio,
studying pastels. Later, she developed a perennial and herb nursery and
began to use the earth as her canvas. These days, she relishes having
time to play in her gardens as well as with her watercolors and pastels.
She is president of the Northeast Connecticut Art Guild and participates
in guild exhibits. She also sells privately to collectors. Back to Celebrations: |
