Jan Geoghegan, Encaustic & Mixed Media
|
“My studio is a place of discovery as I am unable to predict where the creative energy will lead me on any given day. Rather than starting with a plan or painting from what I see, my ideas surface during the process of working with the medium. Each piece "grows" to completion in stages as most of my work is layered or built up in various ways. I work in a number of mediums, in different sizes, and enjoy exploring the endless possibilities of color and texture. Each piece is a unique creation impossible to duplicate. I am influenced by architecture, topography, surfaces transformed by
forces of nature and the artwork of other cultures. My titles are not
meant to define; rather, I would like the viewer to interpret the artwork
drawing from his or her own storehouse of life experiences.” Back to Celebrations: |
