Don Greene, Hand Carved Wood Sculpture

I've always had a love for Nature and the outdoors. In fact, this led me to a degree from SUNY College of Forestry. All native flora and fauna of North America are my special interests. I enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, bird watching, nature photography and working with natural materials – especially wood.. Each species of wood is unique. The color, hardness, grain patterns and direction, and workability. These properties present challenges to a wood carver but can be used to highlight features in carved sculptures. I enjoy working with both native and exotic woods to create various creatures........my favorites are turtles, fish, penquins and owls but I've done some of everything.

I live in southern New England and have traveled both abroad and throughout the United States and Canada. Traveling abroad has increased my passion for natural beauty and diversity that North America has and is taken for granted by many.
