Amber Maida, Mixed Media

Artist Statement

“I look to create a tactile counter atmosphere within my acrylic and mixed media paintings that visually expresses what is hidden in our world of reality paired with the essence of myth. An inner vision created from mystery and wonder where the dualities of fragility with strength, ancient with contemporary and the outer world with the inner world collide in search of balance and meaning.

It’s important to me that even the materials are strongly symbolic creating imagery that is meant to take the viewer deeper within their own realm of realization. The paintings house several reoccurring motifs including Suspended worlds containing intricate line work atop collaged vintage book page remnants or silk, fluid backdrops, gritty/cracked textures, beds of feathers, eggshells and golden labyrinths.”
