Oil Painting

Emily Boosahda

“My oil painting, especially the Maine landscapes, tries to get at the “essence” –instead of just another pretty scene. Some images are so familiar to us- the rocks, the fields, the boats, that we don’t really see them anymore. Through my painting, I try to show the viewer the layers of existence that are all around us... ”

Beverlee Corriveau

“I’ve always had creative interests, but painting is a fairly new passion for me.

I started a few years ago by doing decorative painting. Eventually, I decided to take art classes starting with pastels, then oils and watercolors with local artists.

When I started with oils it just felt right to me. I like the freedom of mixing colors to get exactly the color that my eye sees.”

“What inspires me to paint is the beauty of nature, the changing seasons, shape, texture and especially color ~ the purple color of the sky on a stormy day, a red sunset, a sleeping kitten, the opening petals of a flower, the way the light dances on a bowl of fruit…

Deborah Padden

"What I love to paint is everything. I love the mystery of an old master still life using light and an old master color palette. I love creating a contemporary still life with all their bright and high key colors. I paint flowers in all their glory and paint them as much as possible. And my secret for a great landscape is to be outside painting with my friends, enjoying the solitude of my space and the complete joy of our conversations.”

Daniel Roy

“Daniel's technique involves layering pigment through application of glazes which helps him achieve the desired effect of depth and color. The Blue Sheep series has been quite popular and sold out at the last show in Connecticut...."

Blanche Serban

“My best known works are abstract cityscapes painted in primary colors, using principles of non-Euclidian geometry. The source of inspiration is science - multiple space-time dimensions, matrix theory, multivariate statistics, psychology... Recurring themes are time and timelessness, personal perception and personal space, the peripatetic history of individual and collectivity. The paintings tell stories, impregnated with lyrical undertones and ironical self-references...."
