"Romancing the Stones:
Emeralds, Rubies & Sapphires," Free Lecture
August 1, 2007, Pomfret, CT . . . Celebrations Gallery & Shoppes in Pomfret offers the fourth free lecture in our summer series. On Sunday, August 12th from 1 to 3 PM, local jewelry maker and Graduate Gemologist (GIA) Karen Chartier will share her expertise on the precious stones, emeralds, rubies and sapphires. Trained at Boston's acclaimed North Bennet Street School, Chartier is known for her hand-fabricated, one-of-a-kind gold, silver and platinum jewelry.
In classical music, the "Big 3" are Beethoven, Bach and Mozart.
In art, it's da Vinci, Michelangelo and Rembrandt. The world of colored
stones has a Big 3 of its own – emerald, ruby and sapphire. In this
lecture, Karen Chartier will dazzle your mind and eye with the romance of
the Big 3. Learn interesting facts such as formation, composition, history,
