"Fields & Fences" Art Exhibition
August
29, 2008, Pomfret, CT . . . Celebrations Gallery & Shoppes invites you
to the "Fields & Fences" Art Exhibition, featuring original
intaglio prints of Marian L. O'Connell and impressionist
oil paintings of Donna O'Scolaigh Lange. The exhibition
will run from September 19 – October 26, 2008. An
Opening Reception on Friday, September 19 from 5 to 8 pm will
offer complimentary refreshments and a chance to meet and chat with the
artists. O'Connell will offer a Conversation with the Artist on
Sunday, October 26 from 1 to 3PM. All are welcome to these free
events.
O'Connell has won numerous awards and was recently juried into the prestigious
Boston Printmakers, which draws its membership from across the United States
and Canada. Their North American Print Biennial is one of the most prestigious
events in printmaking and Marian was accepted in both 2007 and 2008. Her
two most recent awards were for acceptance into the National Association
of Women Artists Show at the 119th Annual Exhibition at Goggle Works in
Reading, PA. At the 52nd Regional Show at the Mystic Arts Center, she received
the Joseph Gaultieri Prize for "Walls, Gates & Fences," a
handmade book of 11 intaglio prints.
"Living in New England, unquestionably, has influenced my subject matter," says O'Connell. I enjoy each season and look forward to the changing light each brings from snow scenes in winter to summers at the beach. The architecture of Victorian houses, their doorways and rooftops are always sources of inspiration.”
Thompson, CT, artist Donna O'Scolaigh Lange began her career as a graphic
artist and children’s book illustrator. Today, oils are her preferred
medium but she also works in collage, acrylic, pastel & printmaking
techniques. Donna has participated in many juried shows in Connecticut and
was honored in 2007 with an exclusive month-long solo show at the Pond House
Gallery in Hartford's Elizabeth Park. "Fields & Fences" will
feature a collection of her impressionist oil paintings with pastoral themes.
"Fields & Fences" is the final show in Celebrations' series
of art exhibitions for 2008. The programs are FREE and open to the public.
