"A Journey Through Color" Art Exhibition
December 30, 2008, Pomfret, CT . . . Celebrations Gallery & Shoppes invites you to our first art exhibition of 2009, "A Journey Through Color." This solo show will feature the vivid acrylics of Susan Rosenstone Larrow. The exhibition will run from January 23 - February 28, 2009. An Opening Reception on Friday, January 23 from 5-8PM will offer complimentary refreshments and a chance to meet Susan, as well as many of the Gallery's other artists. Susan will also host a "Conversation with the Artist" at Celebrations on Sunday, February 1 from 1-3PM. All are welcome to these free events.
Rosenstone
Larrow taught high school art at Killingly High School and Woodstock Academy
for 35 years and has painted off and on as she had the opportunity. She
has studied at Castle Hill Arts Center in North Truro, Cape Cod, and was
juried into the Connecticut Women Artist Show and the Connecticut Artist
Show at the Slater Memorial Art Museum in Norwich, CT. Now retired from
teaching, she is enjoying painting full time.
"When painting, I have always felt a sense of fulfillment, that my
life was enriched and complete," says Rosenstone Larrow. "Subjects
that show life and expression like people, flowers and landscapes have been
my focus. During the past three years I have been painting landscapes on
a regular basis and enjoying it. I paint the scenery at home and on my travels,
frequently painting outside on location. The most striking feature of my
paintings is vibrant colors that are just on the edge of being unrealistic.
Working with complementary colors and using a little bit of red emphasizes
an area of interest for the viewer."
