"Two Generations" Art Exhibition

23, 2009, Pomfret, CT . . . Celebrations Gallery & Shoppes invites you
to the "Two Generations" Art Exhibition, featuring
the original oil paintings of Dan Roy and
debuting his daughter Tori Roy with a selection of her work in
various media. The exhibition will run from March 20 – April
26, 2009.
An Opening Reception on Friday, March 20th from 5 to 8 pm (snow date March 21) will offer complimentary refreshments and the opportunity to meet and chat with the artists. Dan Roy will host a Conversation with the Artist on Sunday, March 29th from 1 to 3PM. All are welcome to these free events.
Roy's
series of "Blue Sheep" and "Red Sky" paintings, inspired
by travel to Galway, Ireland, have been very popular with art enthusiasts
and collectors. With a degree in Fine Arts from Anna Maria College, Roy
is a Gallery Artist Member at the South Shore Art Center in Cohasset, MA.
His work is displayed in other select galleries in New England and has also
been commissioned for the Connecticut State Capital offices. Roy's distinctive
style employs a layering technique of pigment and glazes, which helps him
achieve the desired effect of depth and color.
Currently a senior at Woodstock
Academy, Tori Roy has won several awards for her artwork,
including last year's first place in Woodstock Academy's "20 x 30 Competition"
and recently a "Gold Portfolio" in the juried Scholastic Art Awards
at the University of Hartford's School of Art (where she was offered a scholarship).
As yet undecided on a university, Tori will major in Fine Arts. "All
in all, I would say it's a unique opportunity to be able to display my artwork
alongside my dad, and I feel fortunate as an artist to have this local support
as I begin my career in the arts," says Tori about her upcoming debut
at Celebrations.
"Two Generations" is the second show in Celebrations' series of
art exhibitions for 2009. The programs are FREE and open to the public.
