Connecticut’s Last Green Valley Featured in Yankee Magazine

Dublin, New Hampshire (February 25, 2009)—Yankee Magazine’s March/April issue, on newsstands March 3, 2009, features a travel story about northeast Connecticut’s Last Green Valley. According to the article, “Lost in the Last Green Valley,” the area is an unexpected oasis of peace and old-time nostalgia.

“It’s one of the last good-sized unspoiled spots on the East Coast city-sprawl continuum,” writes Annie Graves. “A wide, quiet corridor of pretty villages and dreamy landscapes hidden within one of the most densely populated parts of the country. More than 80 percent of the Last Green Valley remains field or forest.”

The article explores the region and recommends things to do, where to eat and places to stay.

“Yankee’s article really captures the true essence of the Last Green Valley and will surely entice readers to visit and explore in their own personal ways,” says Charlene Perkins Cutler, executive director of The Last Green Valley (TLGV). “We always welcome the opportunity to share our abundant natural and cultural resources and to interpret what it truly means to be TLGV, and we’re very thankful Yankee Magazine chose to showcase this area in the March/April issue. They spent a lot of time immersing themselves in our natural beauty and abundant cultural treasures.”

More than 20 destinations are listed in the article, covering trails to hike, places to stay, meals to eat, gifts to buy, and things to do with kids. These destinations will be listed online in Yankee’s travel database, and the article will be archived online at YankeeMagazine.com.
