Autumn Events
August 14, 2009, Pomfret, CT . . . Celebrations Gallery & Shoppes invites you to visit and enjoy our special events this fall. Starting in September, we will debut new artists plus new work by old favorites. During October, go leaf peeping and enjoy seasonal themed artwork at the gallery. In November, we will feature a "Small Works" art exhibition and sale to kick off the holiday shopping season.
September
The first week in September, Celebrations Gallery welcomes photographer Carol Wontkowski, who has studied at RISD, worked as a commercial photographer and today displays her art in galleries throughout New England. "My desire is to create the most evocative image possible," says Carol, "to portray common things, often, in an uncommon way, in order to capture some of the essence of the Designer and to transport the viewer, no matter how briefly, to a more tranquil and serene view of this world."
Wolfgang Schweizer joins Celebrations Gallery the second week in September. Schweizer is a German native who now resides in Connecticut. His fanciful, colorful abstracts—often inspired by music--are full of geometric shapes and movement. "All begins with one decisive line whether I am using pens, watercolor, oils or acrylic paints," explains Wolfgang. "The quiet stillness quickly moves to a harmoniously proportioned canvas leaving each side true to the other."
Debuting at Celebrations the third week in September, Mary
Green La Forge is a nationally acclaimed watercolor and oil
painter whose work is included in private and corporate collections throughout
the world. "Her love of nature is reflected in her extensive personal
gardens and in her interpretations of floral arrangements. Her works capture
the freshness and light of the natural environment with rich yet subtle
transparent colors of her watercolors and the brilliant colors of her oils.
The results are impressionistic paintings that go beyond realism to capture
a moment in time."
The end of September at Celebrations brings seasonal change
both in and out of the gallery. Enjoy the changing leaves and new, seasonally
inspired work by some of our most-loved artists working in oil, watercolor,
acrylic and more.
"Small Works: Artful Treasures" Exhibition & Sale. In the tradition of many galleries during the holiday season, Celebrations' "Small Works" show is designed to entice customers to give the ultimate gift of original artwork. We will offer a variety of original, framed art in a range of media, all under $200. The exhibition will run from November 18th to January 3rd with a "Meet the Artists" Reception on Saturday & Sunday, November 21 & 22 from 1 to 4pm, featuring complimentary tea and sweet treats.
