Celebrating One Year of Art & Creativity
April 20, 2007, Pomfret, CT ... Celebrate with us! May 5, 2007 marks the
first anniversary of Celebrations Gallery & Shoppes.

Formerly an award-winning bed & breakfast, Celebrations' metamorphosis into a Gallery & Gift Shoppe really began several years ago, when owner Jean Barton helped organize the "Artists' Gathering Celebration" with Jackie Mahoney--this annual weekend art show and sale featured local artists and artisans. Barton and Mahoney quickly realized the need for a venue to showcase and sell local and regional art year-round. The next step was to gather a team of artfully minded women and create a new venture in Barton's grand rose-colored Queen Anne located on scenic Route 169 in Pomfret.
The highlight of Celebrations is artwork of all kinds: oil, watercolor, glass, jewelry, mixed media, functional art, woodworking, pottery and more... The work is juried and the talent is remarkable and diverse. Barton and her team of Creative Directors consider their endless hours, including many volunteer hours, a labor-of-love. Their goal is to create a welcoming but sophisticated atmosphere. Barton's restored 1885 Victorian with ten-foot ceilings is an ideal setting, and the Gallery & Shoppes space covers ten rooms on two floors. Visitors enjoy wandering throughout the inspiring environment and purchasing gifts with an artful expression, for themselves or loved ones
In addition to art, Celebrations offers treasures and treats for all occasions, such as a variety of gourmet chocolates. Specialty tea items entice customers to wait patiently for the day when Celebrations opens a Tea Room, which is in the early planning stages. Celebrations has also provided a diverse range of workshops, classes, and presentations that encourage people to have fun using their creative energy. An upcoming free Jewelry & Gemstone Lecture Series is scheduled for this summer. Other educational presentations, such as "PaperSolo"--introducing an artform using beautiful handmade paper from around the world--are also planned.
