Free Gemstone & Jewelry Lecture Series
May 10, 2007, Pomfret, CT … This summer Celebrations Gallery & Shoppes in Pomfret offers a "sparkling" education: a free lecture series on Jewelry, Gemstones & Pearls. Each lecturer is a certified GIA gemologist and expert in his or her field. In addition, they are all exhibiters with retail jewelry for sale at Celebrations and will have additional merchandise on hand the day of their lecture.

The first lecture in the series is Sunday, May 27, 2007 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. "Gemstone Identification, Storage and Cleaning" will be presented by GIA Gemologist Bernie Stachura. His presentation will cover the basic facets of gemology identification, storage and cleaning. Stachura will conduct a tour of cut stones, cabochons and mineral specimens for a hands-on, interactive experience.
A renowned gemologist, Stachura is a consistent award winner of the Gems and Gemology Challenge (8 of last 9 years) and has performed gem identification and appraisal clinics since 1996. Stachura has taught and lectured at the Lexington Arts and Crafts Club, the Rhode Island School of Design, and Metalwerx Studio. His gemologist degree includes certificates in Pearls, Appraisal, Sales, Retailing and Display. Estate jewelry from Stachura's own collection will be available for sale at this event, ranging from contemporary selections to Victorian and vintage pieces.
